Shipping Rules for WooCommerce
Hide or show delivery methods based on what is in the basket: its total, its weight, how many items it holds, or the shipping classes in it.

What it does
Not every delivery method suits every basket. A courier who will not take 30kg should not be offered one, and something fragile enough to need collecting should not be sent by the cheapest van you have.
Shipping Rules decides which delivery methods a customer is offered, based on what they are actually buying. You write the rules in plain terms: hide express delivery when the basket weighs more than 30kg; offer local pickup and nothing else when there is a fragile item in it; take flat rate off small orders and leave the customer with collection.
Each rule names the delivery methods it acts on and the conditions that bring it into play — basket total, weight, number of items, or shipping class — and you decide whether every condition has to be true or just one of them. Rules are applied in the order you put them in.
If your rules leave an order with no way to be delivered at all, the customer is told on the cart and at checkout in wording you write, and the order is stopped rather than taken and argued about afterwards. A basket held up by two rules is told about both.
Free decides whether a delivery method is offered. Pro decides when, to whom, and at what price. Conditions extend to the products and categories in the basket, how bulky it is, and where it is going, down to a postcode pattern. Rules can run only between two dates, only on chosen days, or only between two times of day, so a Christmas cutoff stops on its own and "order by 2pm for next day" is a setting rather than a promise on a banner. They can be aimed at guests, at first orders, at customers who have spent a minimum with you, or at named accounts. And instead of hiding a method, a rule can add to or take off the charge, rename it, or put it at the top and preselect it.
A tester on the settings screen takes a basket you type in and shows which rules fire and exactly what the customer would be offered, so you find the baskets your rules leave with nothing before a customer does.
It works on the delivery methods you already offer in WooCommerce rather than adding new ones, and a rule pointing at a method you have since deleted is flagged on the settings screen instead of being quietly dropped.
The free version is permanent. It does not expire, needs no licence key, and never contacts Plugin City. Pro is the complete plugin — everything in Free plus the above — and it installs in place of the free version, keeping every rule you have already written.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between hiding methods and leaving only some?
Hiding takes the methods you name away and leaves everything else. Leaving only takes everything else away and keeps the ones you name — use that when a basket should be collected and nothing more.
What happens if my rules leave a basket with no delivery at all?
The customer is told on the cart and at checkout, and cannot place the order. The wording is the messages of the rules that apply, one after another, so a customer held up by two rules is told about both.
What does a subtotal condition count?
The basket subtotal, before shipping. Tax is counted only if your shop shows prices with tax included, so the rule uses the figure the customer sees in their basket.
What weight does a weight condition use?
The weights on the products in the basket, added up, in whatever unit your shop is set to use. A product with no weight counts as nothing.
Can I set a daily cutoff?
Yes, in Pro. A rule can run only between two times of day, on your shop's own clock, so "order by 2pm for next day" is a setting rather than a promise on a banner. Rules can also be limited to certain days of the week, or to a pair of dates.
Can a rule charge more, or less, instead of hiding a method?
Yes, in Pro. A rule can add to or take off the delivery charge by an amount or a percentage. A discount stops at free delivery, so it will never produce a method that pays the customer.
Can I offer different couriers by area?
Yes, in Pro. Conditions cover the delivery country, county or state, and postcode, with patterns like HS* and ranges like AB30 to AB39.
When does a rule about a postcode start applying?
Once there is a postcode to read. On the first view of a cart nobody has typed an address yet, so an address rule waits rather than guessing — and it waits in the direction that offers more, not less.
Can trade accounts be offered methods retail customers are not?
Yes, in Pro. Rules can be limited by customer role, and also to guests, to first orders, to people who have bought before, to customers who have spent a minimum with you, or to named accounts.
Can I check my rules before a customer does?
Yes, in Pro. The tester on the settings screen takes a basket you type in — total, weight, items, class and where it is going — and shows which rules fire and exactly what would be offered.
Does it add new delivery methods?
No. It works on the ones you already have in WooCommerce, so set your shipping up there first and use this to decide who is offered what.
Does it work with the block cart and checkout?
Yes. A basket left with no delivery method is reported through the WooCommerce Store API, so the block cart and checkout refuse to proceed and show the same message.
What happens if a Pro licence lapses?
Nothing is deleted and nothing is stranded. Your rules go back to behaving the way the free version behaves: they apply to every customer, on every day, wherever the order is going, and they hide or leave methods without changing a price. A lapse makes your shop less selective, never less protected.
