Frequently asked questions

Buying, licence keys, renewals and refunds. If your question is about a particular plugin, its own page has answers specific to it.

Buying

Do I need an account before I can buy?

No. Checkout asks for your email address and nothing else, and the account is created for you when the payment clears. There is no password to choose — signing in works by emailed link, so the address on the payment is the credential.

How do I get my licence key?

It is emailed to you as soon as the payment goes through, and it is always on your account page alongside your downloads and activated sites. If the email has not arrived, check the spam folder before assuming something went wrong.

What currency are the prices in?

US dollars. Any tax due is worked out and shown by Stripe at checkout, before you pay.

Do you store my card details?

No. Card numbers are entered on Stripe’s own checkout page and never reach our servers. We keep only the customer reference Stripe gives us, which is what lets your receipts and payment method stay in one place.

Free and Pro

What is the difference between the free plugin and Pro?

Pro is the complete plugin: everything in the free version plus every Pro feature. It is not an add-on that sits alongside the free one — it installs in its place, in the same folder.

Do I need a licence to use the free plugin?

No. The free version is free indefinitely, does not expire, does not need a key, and does not contact PluginCity.net at all.

How do I upgrade from free to Pro?

Install the Pro version over the free one. Your settings and anything the plugin has already stored are kept, so there is nothing to reconfigure.

Licences and sites

How many sites does a licence cover?

However many the plan you chose is named after. Each site you activate the key on uses one slot.

Can I move a plugin to a different site?

Yes, and it costs nothing. Deactivate the old site from your account and the slot is free to use again immediately. Moving to a new server is not a new purchase.

The code is GPL — so what am I actually paying for?

The plugins are licensed under the GPLv2 or later, the same licence WordPress uses, and we are not going to pretend that licence says something it does not. What you buy is a subscription: a year of updates, new versions and support for the number of sites on your plan, delivered automatically by your key. The site limit is a term of that service, not a claim about what the code permits. The terms set this out in full.

What happens if I share my key?

Publishing it, or handing it to people outside your business so they can take updates without buying a licence, is a breach of the terms and we may suspend the key. We will always contact you first unless the sharing is obviously deliberate.

Renewals and cancelling

Do licences renew automatically?

Yes, annually, at the price you paid, until you cancel. We will not raise the price of a licence you already hold without telling you before it renews.

What happens if a renewal payment fails?

Your licence keeps working for 14 days while Stripe retries the card, so an expired card does not take your updates away overnight.

How do I cancel?

From your account, whenever you like. Cancelling stops the next renewal rather than cutting you off on the day — your licence runs to the end of the year you have paid for.

What happens when a licence lapses?

Nothing stops working. We do not disable anything you have installed, you keep the version your licence covered, and you can download it again from your account. What you stop getting is new versions and support.

Refunds and support

Can I get a refund?

If you are unhappy within 14 days of buying, ask and we will refund you in full. You do not have to explain why. A refund undoes the purchase, so the licence stops working and nothing further is charged — though the plugin already on your sites keeps running, because that code is yours under the GPLv2 or later.

What does support cover?

While your licence is active we answer questions by email and fix genuine faults in the plugin. We do not build custom features, debug other people’s code or work on your site for you — though you are welcome to ask, and we will say so plainly if it is not something we can do.

Something is broken. What do you need from me?

Which plugin and version, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead. If it only goes wrong on one page, a link to it saves a round trip. Open a ticket from support and you can attach a screenshot or a log, which usually settles it in one reply.

Still stuck? Customers can open a ticket; everyone else can ask us directly. A person reads every message. The terms and privacy policy are the long versions of most of the above.
