What it does

A shop that takes orders in office hours, packs by hand or goes away for a fortnight still wants to be found. Ordering Hours pauses new orders without taking the shop offline. Products, categories and search stay where they are, customers can keep browsing and filling a cart, and checkout refuses the order until you are ready to take orders again.

Pause orders with one button, or until a date and time, and the shop reopens on its own, which makes it a vacation mode or holiday mode that leaves your products visible. Set ordering hours for each day of the week, with closed days that keep their hours for when they open again, and add a temporary closure for a holiday or a fulfilment break. Hours follow the time zone you set in WordPress, including the days the clocks change, so 9am is 9am where the shop is. A day's hours have to close after they open: finish at 00:00 to take orders until the end of the day. Hours that run past midnight in one window are not supported.

The refusal happens on the classic checkout and on the Cart and Checkout blocks, and on other routes that build an order through WooCommerce's checkout. PayPal's express buttons are refused when they are pressed, before the customer is sent to PayPal. The customer reads why in your own words on the cart and the checkout, with the time orders reopen added if you want it, and the classic mini-cart carries the same notice. A shortcode, [plugincity_store_status], prints the status on any page, and the admin toolbar says whether orders are open. Choose whether the cart stays open for shopping or the Add to cart button goes. Carts already built are kept, and orders already placed are never touched.

Pro goes further, with as many closures as the year needs, date overrides that replace one date's hours, extra daily windows for a lunch break or a split shift, a cut-off time that either stops orders or accepts them for the next day, delayed fulfilment that keeps taking orders while the shop is closed and tells the customer when processing starts, rules per customer group so a wholesale account can keep ordering, and a reopening countdown. A manual pause always wins: no customer group and no delayed-fulfilment mode steps around it. If a Pro licence lapses, the closures and hours already saved stay in force. They stay on screen to read but cannot be changed until renewal.

See it in action

The Store status card shows whether orders are open, with one button to pause or resume them and a Pause until box that reopens the shop on its own.
Regular ordering hours: a window for each day, with closed days shown as a dash and their hours kept for when the day opens again.
A temporary closure, with its dates and a message of its own, for a holiday or a fulfilment break.
The customer message: a heading, the words the shop wrote, and a choice to add the time orders reopen.
The block cart explains the pause in the shop's own words, beside the cart totals.
The block checkout carries the same message under the order total.
On the classic checkout, pressing Place order while orders are paused refuses the order and says why.
The [plugincity_store_status] shortcode prints the status on any page.
As many closures as the year needs, each with a name, its dates and a message of its own.
Date overrides: one date replaces that weekday's usual hours, or closes the shop for the day.
Extra daily windows: a second opening on a weekday, for a split shift or an evening session.
Cut-off times: stop orders after a set time, or keep accepting them for the next day.
Delayed fulfilment: orders are still accepted while the shop is closed, and the customer is told when processing starts.
Rules per customer group: tick the roles that may keep ordering while the shop is closed.
The status shortcode with the reopening countdown after the message.
While the shop is closed, delayed fulfilment tells the customer when processing starts, and the checkout button still works.

Frequently asked questions

Does the shop go offline?

No. Products, categories and search stay visible, and customers can keep browsing. Only new customer orders are refused.

Does it work with the block cart and checkout?

Yes. The Cart and Checkout blocks show the message and the order is refused through WooCommerce's Store API. The classic cart and checkout work the same way.

What happens to carts already built?

They stay. The customer can come back when you reopen and finish the order. You can also choose to hide Add to cart while orders are paused.

What happens to orders already placed?

Nothing. Closing the shop does not cancel them, change their status, or stop you fulfilling or refunding them.

Which time zone do the hours use?

The one set in WordPress under Settings, General. The hours are kept in the shop's own zone, so 9am stays 9am on the days the clocks change.

Can my hours run past midnight?

Not in a single window. A day's hours have to close after they open, and the screen tells you when they do not. To take orders until the end of the day, finish at 00:00.

Can I show the status somewhere else on my site?

Yes. The shortcode [plugincity_store_status] prints whether orders are open, or the paused message, wherever you put it.

Can a customer get past it with a one-tap payment button?

PayPal's express buttons are stopped when they are pressed, before the customer is sent to PayPal, and any other flow that builds its order through WooCommerce's checkout is refused there too. A gateway that creates orders without going through WooCommerce's checkout is outside this.

Does the block Mini Cart show the message?

No. The classic mini-cart widget carries the notice and the block Mini Cart does not, so the cart and the checkout are where customers read it.

Does it work with High-Performance Order Storage?

Yes. Nothing is written to orders, so High-Performance Order Storage shops are fully supported.

What is the licence key for?

Pro needs a licence key for updates and to keep its Pro settings editable.

What does Pro add?

Unlimited closures, date overrides, extra daily windows, cut-off times, delayed fulfilment, rules per customer group so a wholesale account can keep ordering while the shop is closed, and a reopening countdown.

Can a wholesale account order while the shop is closed?

Yes, with Pro. Tick the customer groups that may keep ordering under Rules per customer group. Everyone else follows the shop hours, and a manual pause still includes them.

What happens if my Pro licence lapses?

Nothing is deleted and the shop does not reopen. The closures and hours you set stay in force and stay on screen to read, and cannot be changed until you renew.

Can I use it as vacation mode or holiday mode?

Yes. Pause orders until the day you are back, or set a temporary closure with its own message. The shop reopens on its own at the time you give, and your products stay visible the whole time.
