Product Tabs for WooCommerce
Add your own tabs to WooCommerce product pages: on one product or many, with rules, variation text and nine styles.

What it does
Add your own tabs to WooCommerce product pages: on one product or many, with rules, variation text and nine styles.
Write a tab on the product itself, in the Product tabs panel of the Product data box, or write a global tab once and show it on every product or only on chosen categories, tags and products. A global tab can be switched off for one product. Drag tabs into order among WooCommerce's own, on a product or for the whole shop, and rename or hide Description, Additional information and Reviews. It works on block-theme product pages as well as classic ones.
Pro adds rules for who sees a tab (roles, logged-in customers or guests, stock status, on sale or not, product type, a start and end date), a different tab text for each variation of a variable product, and tab text that fills itself in from a custom field, an Advanced Custom Fields value, a product attribute or one of the product's own details. Nine ready-made styles, from a quiet underline to vertical tabs and an accordion, open their colours, corners, spacing, text size, alignment and open-tab marker to change. A shortcode or a block shows a product's tabs anywhere on your site.
Moving in is covered: product CSV columns, a JSON export and import of every tab with a preview, and migration from YIKES Custom Product Tabs with a backup and a rollback. A rule decides what is shown, not who may read it, and a page cache can show one visitor's tabs to the next. If the licence lapses nothing is deleted and your tabs keep showing, but every tab is shown to everyone again until you renew.

What the plugin does
- A Product tabs panel on each product, where its own tabs are written. The rich text editor starts only when you open a tab.
- Tabs shown through WooCommerce's own tab system, beside the tabs WooCommerce already draws.
- Global tabs that show on every product, or only on chosen categories, tags and products, and can be switched off for one product.
- Drag tabs into order, in among WooCommerce's own, on a product or for the whole shop.
- Rename or hide the Description, Additional information and Reviews tabs.
- Tabs are copied, with ids of their own, when a product is duplicated.
- Tab names that never change when a title is edited, so a link to a tab keeps working.
- A choice of whether each panel opens with the tab's title as a heading.
- Works on block-theme product pages, with a plain explanation on the settings screen of where WooCommerce draws its own tabs from blocks.
- Translatable with Polylang, and a configuration file for WPML.
- Tab columns in WooCommerce's own product CSV importer and exporter.
- A JSON export and import of every global tab and every product's tabs, with a preview. Products are matched by SKU or slug, never by id, and an import never deletes a tab.
- Migration from YIKES Custom Product Tabs, with a preview, a backup, a rollback and WP-CLI commands.
- Settings import and export, to copy a configuration to another shop or keep a backup.
- Rules for who sees a tab: chosen roles, logged-in customers or guests, stock status, on sale or not, product type, and a start and end date.
- Rules sit on a global tab under When this tab shows, or under Tab rules in the Product data box for a tab written on a product.
- A different tab text for each variation of a variable product, put in place when the shopper chooses one.
- Tab text that fills itself in with a custom field, an Advanced Custom Fields value, a product attribute or one of the product's own details.
- Each of those shortcodes takes a fallback and text to print before and after, and everything printed is escaped.
- Nine ready-made styles for WooCommerce's tabs: Minimal underline, Classic boxed, Pills, Bold header bar, Vertical, Card, Boutique, Dark and Accordion, or Plugin default to leave your theme in charge.
- Colours, corners, spacing, text size, alignment and the open-tab marker are open to change in each style, with a preview of the style as it stands.
- The vertical style stacks into an accordion on a narrow screen.
- Show a product's tabs anywhere on your site with the [pcpt_tabs] shortcode or the Product tabs block, as an accordion or stacked headings.
- Only what the product page would show that visitor is shown, and nothing for a product they could not open.
- Nothing is added to your storefront until you use a style or write variation text: no stylesheet and no script load on a product page before then.
- A delete-everything option for when the plugin is removed, off unless you turn it on.
- High-Performance Order Storage compatibility.
- If the licence lapses nothing is deleted and your tabs keep showing, the Pro features switch off together and every tab is shown to everyone again. Renewing switches them back on.
- A 14-day trial on a new install before the licence matters.
- Updates from your PluginCity account, kept coming by your licence key.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I write a tab?
On the product itself: open it, choose Product tabs in the Product data box and click Add a tab. For a tab that belongs on many products, go to Products, Global tabs, write it once and choose every product, or only chosen categories, tags and products.
Can I put tabs in order, and rename WooCommerce's own?
Yes. Drag tabs on the product, or use Products, Tab order for the whole shop. On a theme that draws the product page the classic way, WooCommerce, Product Tabs can rename or hide Description, Additional information and Reviews. On a block-built product template those controls are not shown, because they would do nothing there, and the screen says why.
Does it work with block-based product pages?
Yes. WooCommerce's own Single Product template, and the one in Twenty Twenty-Five, draw the product's tabs the classic way, so your tabs appear in the order you set. A shop or a theme can instead build the tabs out of blocks inside the Product Details block. Then WooCommerce adds your tabs after the template's own, and changes to its three own tabs are made in the Site Editor. If that block holds other blocks but nothing that makes tabs, WooCommerce asks no plugin for tabs, so none of yours can show. The settings screen tells you which of these you have.
What can the rules look at?
Whether the visitor is logged in and which roles they have, the product's stock status, whether it is on sale, its type, and the date and time against the timezone in Settings, General. Roles are the roles WordPress holds, including any a membership or wholesale plugin has added. A rule is a set of conditions that must all be true, and a tab with none is shown to everyone.
Can I use rules to keep a tab private?
No. Rules decide what is shown, not who may read it. A tab hidden from a visitor is not drawn on the page, but its text is not protected, and anyone who can edit the product can read it. A page cache that serves one visitor's page to the next will also serve their tabs, so cache role and schedule rules carefully, or leave pages with them out of the cache. Put anything confidential somewhere that needs a login.
How do I give one variation its own tab text?
Open the variation on a variable product and use Tab text for this variation. When the shopper chooses that variation the text is put in place, and a variation with none shows the product's own text.
How do the shortcodes that fill in a tab work?
[pcpt_field key="care_notes"] prints a custom field of the product, [pcpt_acf field="care_notes"] an Advanced Custom Fields value when that plugin is active, [pcpt_attribute name="Material"] a product attribute and [pcpt_product field="sku"] one of the product's own details: name, sku, price, regular_price, sale_price, stock_status, stock_quantity, weight, dimensions, categories or tags. Each takes fallback, before and after. Everything printed is escaped, so a field that holds markup shows as text. A field whose name starts with an underscore is WordPress's marker for not for display, and is refused.
How do I show a product's tabs somewhere else?
Use [pcpt_tabs product="123" tabs="care, delivery" layout="accordion"], or the Product tabs block. Leave out product to use the product on the page, leave out tabs for every tab the visitor is shown, and use layout="stacked" for headings one after another instead of an accordion. It shows only what the product page would show that visitor, and nothing for a product they could not open.
Which styles are there, and can I change them?
Nine: Minimal underline, Classic boxed, Pills, Bold header bar, Vertical, Card, Boutique, Dark and Accordion, plus Plugin default, which adds no styling and leaves your theme in charge. Pick one on the Styling card, then change only what you want: the colours, corners, spacing, text size, alignment and open-tab marker.
Do the styles work with every theme?
No. The styles are drawn over WooCommerce's own tab markup, which classic themes and the standard product page templates use. A theme that draws its tabs some other way, or a block template that builds them out of other blocks, keeps its own look, and the Styling screen says so when it can tell. A style sets the tabs' colours and shape, so check it beside your theme before you keep it.
Does it add scripts or styles to my product pages?
Only when you ask it to. With Plugin default chosen and no variation text written, nothing is added and your theme owns how tabs look and behave. Choosing a style adds a small stylesheet to product pages, and the accordion, and the vertical style on a narrow screen, add a small script. A variable product whose variations have text of their own gets a small script that swaps it in. A page that shows a product's tabs with the shortcode or block gets a small stylesheet.
Can I bring tabs in from a spreadsheet or another shop?
Yes. WooCommerce's own product CSV importer and exporter carry tab columns, and Tabs import and export under WooCommerce, Product Tabs moves your global tabs and every product's tabs as one JSON file, with a preview before anything changes. Products are matched by SKU or slug, never by id. Files can be up to 5 MB and 1000 products, and larger files can be imported with the WP-CLI command wp pcpt tabs import. An import never deletes a tab.
Can I move over from YIKES Custom Product Tabs?
Yes. The migration shows a preview first, takes a backup, can be rolled back, and has WP-CLI commands as well as a screen.
Does it work with Polylang and WPML?
With Polylang, yes. A global tab can be translated like any post and the product page draws the version for the language being shown, falling back to the original while a translation is empty or unpublished. A product's tabs are copied when you make a translation of it. For WPML the plugin ships a configuration file that says which fields are translated. It has not been tried against WPML itself, which is a paid plugin, so check a translated product on a staging site first.
What happens when I duplicate a product?
Its tabs are copied, each with an id of its own, so changing one product's tab never changes the other's.
What happens to my tabs if I delete the plugin?
Nothing, unless you ticked Delete everything first. Tabs are your writing, so they stay by default.
What happens if my licence lapses?
Nothing is deleted and nothing breaks, and your tabs keep showing. The Pro features switch off together: every tab is shown to everyone again, whatever rules it has, a variation shows the product's own text, a shortcode that fills in a detail prints nothing, tabs you showed elsewhere are not drawn, and the tabs go back to your theme's own look. The Pro screens stay, showing what you set in words that cannot be edited, and it is all there again the moment a licence is active.
Does it send any data out?
Your tabs, settings and your visitors' details stay on your site. The licence check and the update check contact PluginCity and send the licence key, the site address and the plugin version. Your tabs and your visitors' details are not part of those requests.
Does it work with High-Performance Order Storage?
Yes. Nothing is written to orders, so shops using High-Performance Order Storage are fully supported.
What happens if I deactivate WooCommerce?
The plugin steps aside and shows a notice. It does not cause a fatal error, and your tabs are waiting when WooCommerce comes back.
How do I install it and what does it need?
Download the ZIP from your PluginCity account, then go to Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP and click Install Now. If an earlier copy of the plugin is already installed, choose Replace current with uploaded: every setting you have made is kept. It needs WordPress 6.7 or later, WooCommerce 10.0 or later with WooCommerce active, and PHP 8.1 or later. There is nothing else to install alongside it.
How do updates and the licence key work?
Paste your licence key under WooCommerce, Product Tabs, Licence. Updates then arrive on your Plugins screen like any other, and the key keeps the Pro features switched on. A new install has 14 days before that starts to matter.
